Last updated: 11 October 2026. Motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers and owners of small cars in Punjab can now get petrol at Rs 100 per litre less, up to 20 litres a month on two- and three-wheelers. That is up to Rs 2,000 a month. This page explains who qualifies, how to register by SMS, how to get your token at the pump, and what the government has actually confirmed.
Quick Answer: How to Get the Rs 100/Litre Petrol Subsidy
- Register once: from the SIM that is registered in your own name, send an SMS to 9771 with your 13-digit CNIC, vehicle registration number, province where the vehicle is registered and the vehicle registration date.
- Wait for the confirmation SMS. Registration is one-time and free.
- Before each fill-up, send TOK to 9771 to receive a token number.
- Show the token at the petrol pump, check the quantity, and make sure the discount appears on your bill.
Details come from the federal government’s announcement of 14 September 2026 as reported by Express Tribune, ARY News and ProPakistani. The government says it will never call, WhatsApp or SMS you to ask for money, an OTP or extra information.

Who Is Eligible?

Some readers reported different message formats. The press reports we read list the fields but not one exact template, so follow the format in the government’s own announcement, or read the reply you get if the message is rejected.
How to Buy Subsidised Petrol
- Before you go to the pump, send TOK to 9771.
- You receive a token number.
- Show the token to the petrol pump staff for verification.
- Check that the litres and the Rs 100 per litre discount are correct on the bill: Rs 500 off for a 5-litre token on a bike, Rs 1,000 off for a 10-litre token on a car.
The Punjab Programme (April 2026) and How It Relates
Punjab announced its own motorcycle relief earlier, on 4 April 2026, with the same Rs 100 per litre for up to 20 litres a month. Registered bike owners could apply through the toll-free helpline 1000, the Maryam Ko Batayen app or the portal mkb.punjab.gov.pk. Registration and transfer fees on motorcycles were waived for a limited time, and the bike had to be registered in the owner’s own name. By mid-April more than 8 million motorcyclists had reportedly registered, out of about 12.5 million bikers the province expected to cover, and the Punjab government had asked its Finance Department for Rs 24 billion.
What we could not confirm: whether the Punjab-specific payment is still running separately from the federal scheme. At the pump, the system that applies nationwide since mid-September is the 9771 SMS and token process described above. If you registered with Maryam Ko Batayen earlier, call 1000 to ask whether you also need to register on 9771.
How Many People Have Registered?
- More than 6 million registrations, according to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik on 28 September 2026.
- More than 10.85 million registered citizens, vouchers issued to about 10.20 million, 27 million tokens issued and 19.4 million used, according to government figures reported by ProPakistani on 9 October 2026.
The two sets of figures are from different dates and sources, so we show both.
Petrol Price Today
On 9 October 2026 the government raised the petrol price by Rs 2.31 to Rs 398.96 per litre and diesel by Rs 0.78 to Rs 395.72, as reported by Gari.pk. With the Rs 100 discount on your allowed litres, an eligible rider pays about Rs 298.96 per litre on those litres. Prices are now revised often, so check the latest OGRA notification before you rely on a number.
Other Fuel Support in Punjab
- Farmers: a diesel subsidy for wheat growers owning up to 25 acres, reported as Rs 150 per litre on up to 10 litres per acre (Rs 1,500 per acre), announced in April 2026.
- Motorcycle fees: temporary waiver of registration and transfer fees to help owners update ownership records.
Common Problems and Fixes
- SMS rejected: check that the SIM is in your name and the CNIC has 13 digits without dashes.
- Bike not in your name: two- and three-wheeler riders can still apply on the national system, but the older Punjab portal required the bike in the owner’s name.
- Pump has no system: some Lahore stations reportedly were not ready at the start. Try another station and report it.
- No discount on the bill: do not pay until the discount is applied. A government war room handles pump complaints.
- Wrong province: use the province where the vehicle is registered.
Beware of Fake Registration Sites
Many websites copy this scheme and ask for fees, OTP codes or CNIC photos. The government says registration is free and that it will never ask for an OTP, a code or more personal data by phone, WhatsApp or SMS. Use only the SMS service 9771 and official government channels.
